Task 1.
Examples of The vasaline Technique. From Google.
I am wanting to present my final images printed onto foam board, at apron 10 x 8.
Above head. This image makes my subject look like he's got a rather large head because the angel focus's on the head.
Waist height. This image makes my subject more broad because its rather close up to the subjects shoulders making them wider.
You would use these kind of settings when you maybe want to make more shadows of the subject,
or just use a new angle instead of a straight on portrait.
Task 20 + 21.

Task 2.
Task 3.
Task 4.
Task 5.
Vaseline edge
This one was used doing a photoshop based style, but the effect is the same as what you get in camera.
Recreation attempt.
This was as close as i could get to the image as my photoshop wouldn't gradient/tone down
These are my images of tights on the lens, again there are slight differences such as the tight colours are different mines darker the other ones seem flesh tone, the subject is the same but one singular rose instead of several, mine is portrait, the other is landscape.
Task 6.
google
Task 7.
I think that doing this went well but somethings could of gone better, For example. my eye sight struggled with some of the in camera things such as Vaseline on lens i couldn't see very well so it too a few shots to get things right.
But aside from that I enjoyed experimenting with materials and deciding if they'd work or not.
I felt the same with photoshop because when you tried different things on there and didn't like them, you undo the changes and start again till it looks good.
Took me a while to get the hang of how to sharpen where i wanted and I had to find out which blur filters did what.
Task 8.
For this task I am going to look at new ways i can create the vignette effect
I really like the vignette effect through photoshop i think it just has alot more lightness to it that the others as they look thick and bold so i will use the photoshopped one in my final images.
Student life images.
These final images are basically about my life between college and how I feel like I'm rushed about and how i struggle to see anything because I'm just so busy.
My first Image is of my dog and it basically represents how I'm trying to spend time with him but I just can't always manage, because the picture is really innocent and then it kinda looks like he's fading away and thats how I feel trying to get my priorities straight I feel like hes fading to the back of my mind.
Image 2 is basically what was left over from my dinner last night but I thought adding the motion blur showed how I have no time to eat properly and only ever eat fast food and the motion blur shows that I basically get it fast then eat it fast.
Image 3 is of my cameras and work and assignments and medication and I Gaussian blurred it because I get through my assignments and sometimes question how I do it because everything is just so blurry for me trying to stay on top of my life and trying to stay on top of everything and to me, it kinda tells me i need to slow down a bit.
I am wanting to present my final images printed onto foam board, at apron 10 x 8.
Task 9.
For my own images I am thinking of doing either macro photography with the Vaseline on lens.
If i do this right I will get something were it will have the subject as the middle focus, then have the edges blurring out to the sides.
I am planning to use full colour and try edit the contrast so the colours become brighter then the colours will fade out and create a nice effect.
I'm wanting to use flowers as my subject, but considering the time of year, they wont be real.
So also my other option is Christmas decorations such as tree decorations. I am wanting to use direct flash to create a funky effect on the glitter.
I'm wanting to keep everything low and just rely on the flash for colour.
Another is mainly Photo Shop based, I want to get some direct boka images and create one image out of loads, I want to incorporate a picture of my and my boyfriend in the image and change the colours into my boka maybe create like a night sky scene.
For this i will be using a slow shutter high iso and Fnumber, I'll need a light source such as a torch, and will need to make some shape filters.
My other Idea Is to do painting with light with different mini filters making the bokah effect in different colours.
After having a good think i decided that this idea would not work because the bokah wouldn't take.
But I also want to try the same thing with different materials covering my lens such as lace and wool or fine material.
I'm planning on getting coloured torches for the light painting, if thats unsuccessful i will use photoshop to change the colours.
I want to use low shutter and f-number but use direct flash to create loads of light.
My third and final idea is the same as the light painting but using moving cars since I live on a main road so I have the perfect opportunity to do this.
Again i'll be using photoshop to change the colour of the light or if possible find some see through coloured material to gain the coloured light effect in camera.
Task 10 + 11.
For this i took individual bokah pictures and added them all together onto a picture of me and my boyfriend.
This is what i tried to do for my final image.
I don't think it worked because 1. its too busy, 2. I don't think it connects together properly. 3. its too much i think if it was more simple it would work.
For this image I took a picture on High Shutter (200), High FNO (29), Low ISO (100).
I used direct flash.
I added a gaussian blur and a vignette to the image through photoshop.
I think this worked really well because the direct flash made little silhouettes on the shoe that look really nice, I think its nice and simple and looks different.
I think if i'd have used a flash gun on another lot of light it might have worked better because it would of added more silhouettes which would of made more movement.
Task 12.
(Toilet roll)
Task 13.
In the last task i explored loads of different in camera effects I think the best one was my home made macro lens I thought it looked the most clear of all my images and also the more professional looking of the images, Also it was the easiest one of all my images to make and get focused.
Task 14.
Billborard Ad.
Bus stop ad
poster ad
These ads both range around £500 - £700 P C M depending on the location.
Task 14 + 15.
Fish eye in camera. (mine).
Photoshop, Fisheye. (Mine).
You can use Fish eye as a way of wide angle as it squashes everything together into a small speared form.
Macro in camera
(Mine, Used 12mm extension tube to help)
You would use macro for close up shots of small and detailed things. Rings flowers Food insects etc..
Telephoto In camera.
Wide angle
For Telephoto you would use it for things that are far away or to get closer up on things. It can also be used to make models look thinner.
Wide angle you would use to fit loads of background around a subject.
Wide angle Photoshop.
(More panorama but similar gist)
Task 17
Formy final images I am going to have them printed as 3 separate images. then mount them on foam board because even though its more expensive A, it's more professional. B, It can all go into my printed portfolio. C it looks nicer.
Task 18 + 19.
You would use this setting to get wide angled images for example a large land scape.
You would use the telephoto end to get closer up to a shot especially helpful if it is un accessible. eg a bird in a tree.
For these images I stood as far away as possible so they make my model smaller
These I got about a meter closer so they make my model look larger.
This image particularly looks different because it distorts the shape of my boyfriends body slightly because of the low down angle.
These images look really different in terms of shadows and height of the subject, because of the height distance the camera and the flash is from the subject.
The closer is going to make the subject closer and more shadowed.
The further the less closer and shadowed.
or just use a new angle instead of a straight on portrait.
Task 20 + 21.
all had the same Fno 10 and iso 1600 through out with flash not directly on.
I am wanting to do wide angle shots of landscapes around leeds for my final shoot, I am going to add the fisheye effect in photoshop, or try and borrow a fish eye lens
Specifically I would like to shoot, Millenium square, the little park up by the Merrion Centre.
Another Idea is to do the same thing as before but with greenery such as empty fields, Parks, Trees and general out-door things.
I am wanting to shoot both of these fairly bright so i will be assisted by my flash gun to add as much light to shots as possible. I am wanting to make them as green and bright as possible so I will keep them in full colour and add some brightness on Photoshop.
I want to try and base my work around the artist Andy Mcinroy,
Brightly coloured, spherical images, the main thing I like about his work is the use of natural light and how he makes the landscapes so colourful.
I am going to need a flash gun for mine because the weather isn't going to improve for a while although saying this it would be nice to try shoot all this at night when its dark and that is easily done with it getting dark at 4PM now.
My other idea is to do close ups of signs on buildings and try get a fish eye or wide angle to take them.
Like these from Strong island photography.
Or something similar like this from Flicker
I am going to do some in camera some in photoshop.
These are some test shots that I did in photoshop.
I don't think this worked because it is too oval shaped.
Task 22.
In the end i ended up doing the fish eye in camera and photoshop of landscapes and architecture and these are my final images.
I really don't like this image, I don't think it makes a very convincing fish eye with it being oval and and to the right slightly.
I also didn't like this again because it was too oval shaped.
This image would of worked better if id of zoomed out cropping off the edges.
I couldn't get a decent shot with out loosing the edges.
Re shot but moved back to look better.
This is how it ended up.
Not impressed.
Task 22

These are my own images photo shopped into spots around college.
These are the original spots before i photoshopped my own work in.
The images used.
